About us…

Dave Bruskas

Dallas TX
Executive Director of Discipleship

I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico (yes, I have seen every episode of “Breaking Bad”) in an unbelieving home. As a preteen, my mom and dad came to faith. I began attending church religiously but did not yet know Jesus. At a weekend youth retreat, a student pastor sat down with me, opened his bible and explained the gospel to me. I was left with two powerful impressions. I was guilty of rebelling against God and He loved me by offering forgiveness through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. I turned away from living apart from God and trusted Jesus to forgive me from my sin and free me to live for him.

I sensed a call to ministry at the young age of sixteen. After working for a few years as an accountant at Price Waterhouse (now PWC) here in Dallas, I attended Dallas Theological Seminary and began three decades of pastoral ministry in the local church. I joined the Watermark team in April 2023 as the Director of re:generation. I have been married to Kara for thirty-five years. We have four daughters, three sons-in-law and six grandchildren. We love watching Jesus transform broken lives while serving the next generation of church leaders.

Round Rock TX
Pastor / Elder
Biblical Counselor

I have been involved in and around the biblical counseling movement since 2005.  I have a masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with undergraduate work in Theology.

My family moved to Austin in January of 2018 to serve as Pastor of Soul Care at Radiant Church. I have also served regionally in a soul care collective with several other partnering churches and is a consultant with Soul Care Consulting.

Before moving to Austin, I spent three years in Canada as the Pastor of Biblical Soul Care for Harvest Bible Chapel in Muskoka. During that time I also served in a directing/consulting role for a network of church plants in Ontario.  Prior to being in Canada I pastored The Village Church in North Texas for nearly 10 years.

I married Andrea, and we have four children, Luke, Abel, Leah, and Miriam.  I enjoy spending time with my family and working on stained glass art when I have some down time.

My most formative book other than the Bible: All Things for the Good by Thomas Watson

Jacob Alger

Dallas TX
Senior Director of Community

I grew up in Round Rock, Texas (home of the famous Round Rock Donuts), and I feel humbled and blessed to have grown up in a home with parents who fear and love the Lord. God was gracious to reveal Himself to me at a young age, making me aware of my sin, exposing my need for His grace, and providing me new life through His own Son, Jesus.

I eventually moved to Dallas to attend school at Dallas Baptist University. During my time at DBU, I earned a degree in Biblical Studies, I met my wife, Brooke, and I became a member here at Watermark. The Lord used that season to grow in me a passion for the local church, and it is a deep joy and privilege to now get to serve on staff here at Watermark. I am thankful for Christ, who is the head of our Church, and the ways in which He is actively transforming us so that we might live and love like Him.

On top of that, I love spending time with Brooke and our two children, Truett and Emmy Grace. They are some of my greatest blessings in this life. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and my family, watching Texas football, slowly improving at the game of golf, and partaking in really any form of competition; growing up with all brothers is good soil for a competitive spirit!

So that’s me, but I would love to get to know you and hear your story. Send me an email and let’s find a time to connect!
